Photo Analysis: Point of View (Photograph 2)

My Evaluation:
    • Composition: People, bright colors.
    • Focus: The main focus is on the children and what appears to be their father, the grass and background are blurred to put more emphasis on the people.
    • Framing: Nothing appears to be cropped out of the picture, three people in this photo.
    • Background: Grass, possibly cars or buildings or flowers. It's blurred.
    • Foreground: There is nothing in front of the subject, some grass.
    • Subject: The children and the military man, the man in the middle is in the army and the children are his. It appears to be the fourth of July, based on their outfits and the young girl carrying a flag.
    • People / Clothing: The young girl on the far left is wearing an American flag dress which shows that she is supportive of our country and her father. The man in the middle is wearing a camouflage uniform which shows that he is in the military. The young boy on the far right is also wearing a red, white and blue outfit which also shows that he supports the country and his father. They all appear to be very patriotic on this day.
    • Pose:They are standing, walking through a field of grass. Their body language conveys a sense of happiness and freedom as well as unity, because they are holding hands.
    • Expression: You can't see their faces, but, based on their body language they appear to be happy.
    • Action: They are walking together, because the man in the middle is probably on leave from the military and they want to do something to spend time together.
    • Lighting: It is light, bright colors catch the eye, the lighting appears to be coming from all over because they are outdoors, it draws attention to the whole scene and the bright colors.
    • Point of View: The picture was taken from behind the subjects, it allows the observer to wonder what their facial expressions are and think to oneself about it.
    • Meaning: In my opinion the photographer chose to use these elements and take the picture in this way was to convey the sense of happiness and unity as well as freedom and appreciation. This photographer made the focus on the family because they create a whole, but considering that  the dad is in the military, it also puts in a sense of sadness because he is most likely absent most of the time, which creates an even greater sense of appreciation. The bright colors help convey the happiness of the family to have the father be home.
